<p>In UK, a man who sufferred panic attacks when driving past speed cameras has managed to overcome it by talking to the police and speed camera operators.</p>
<p>Colin Grant, 41, developed a phobia on fixed and mobile cameras 4 years ago even though he has never had a speeding ticket in his life. Because of this, he always planned his routes carefully to avoid the cameras and sometimes took detours up to 2 miles to ensure he did not drive past any speed cameras. </p>
<p>If he was forced to past a speed camera, his would suffer heart palpitations and sweaty palms as he wondered if he had been caught speeding in his car. When the panic attacks became severe, he had to pull over and wait for the anxiety to subside before driving off again.</p>
<p>By talking to police and speed camera operators, Mr Gant finally tackled his fear. Inspector Rowe explained how the cameras worked during a 2 hour meeting and introduced him to staff operating them.</p>

<p>Jolene Kinley, a clinical  psychology graduate student  found that people with panic attacks also have more thoughts of suicide, social impairments and other mental disabilities. They also suffer more often from chronic physical ailments like asthma and allergies.</p>
<p>“When patients present in emergency rooms or doctors’ offices with panic disorders, we hope health-care professionals take a closer look,” said Kinley.</p>
<p>Studies in the United States have suggested people with panic attacks might have deeper medical problems, but Kinley said her findings represent the first Canadian study of the prevalence of other ailments among panic attack sufferers.</p>

<p><strong>3. </strong>Anchor your mind by counting each breath slowly from one to 10 and then back from 10 to one, until the attack passes.</p>
<p><strong>4.</strong> Remember that the attack probably won&#8217;t last more than 10 minutes and even if it feels terrible, you will be OK.</p>
<p><strong>5.</strong> Say to yourself, &#8220;I can make it through this,&#8221; and try not to get caught into negative thought patterns.</p>

<p>According to the Sun, the singer’s condition has become so bad that her father, Jamie, has had to call the doctor.</p>
<p>A source told the newspaper: &#8220;Britney is in danger of not going on tour. She&#8217;s been telling her doctor she&#8217;s under pressure. She fears her performance will be branded a flop.&#8221;</p>
<p>Spears will start her world tour next month and will be joined by sons Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two, reports the ‘Telegraph’.</p>
<p>Following her public meltdowns a year ago, Britney has remained under the strict control of her father, who has restricted her friends and regulated her medical treatment.</p>
<p>The tour starts in New Orleans on March 3 and ends with eight dates in London ending on June 14.</p>

<p>Common symptoms of panic attacks include: racing or pounding heartbeat; dizziness and    lightheadedness; tingling in the hands, arms, feet, legs; sweaty palms,    flushed face; terror, fear of losing control.</p>
<p>Professor Timothy Dinan, a psychiatrist at Cork University Hospital,    says that many of his patients have been through Accident &amp; Emergency    departments before they reach his clinic.</p>
<p>&#8220;They become revolving-door patients. They go to a variety of physicians    for investigations, and have, sometimes, expensive and time-consuming tests    that come back negative. It may be a long time before they accept the idea    that it may be something psychological that is wrong with them,&#8221; he    says.</p>
<p>Panic disorder is easy to treat when you    catch it early on. But if they have been having untreated attacks for six or    12 months, the outcome can be much worse than if it is treated when someone    has had just three or four attacks, according to Professor Timothy Dinan.</p>
<p>Panic attacks quite often lead to agoraphobia &#8212; fear of open spaces.</p>
<p>Dr Aine Tubridy, author of When Panic Attacks, is often contacted by people    who tell her they have not left their house for months. &#8220;It&#8217;s awful,&#8221;    she says. &#8220;People feel defeated by panic, and that, ultimately, can    lead to depression.&#8221;</p>
<p>She often sees teenagers with panic attacks. &#8220;It can happen when they are    forming their identity,&#8221; she says. &#8220;With the stresses teens have    now, panic attacks have become more commonplace. Teens need approval from    their peers.&#8221;</p>
<p>Alcohol and drugs don&#8217;t help. &#8220;People on mind-altering drugs may then get    panic attacks,&#8221; says Dr Tubridy. &#8220;They may not like that blurring    of boundaries. They panic, then think they have done some damage to their    brain. They feel they can&#8217;t confide in their parents.&#8221;</p>

While this technique may not work totally for sufferers of extreme panic attacks, it may reduce symptoms or reduce the number of situations that can lead to a panic attacks.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">This technique is not limited to audible solutions. It can also be used to cure other phobias such as </span><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">frightened of animals, blood, or weather phenomenon. In these situations video can be used in commendation with the audio to give the panic attack suffer a simulation of that which he fears, but by allowing him the power to intervene in the situation and stopped tape or video with his anxiety level rises too high it gives the panic attack suffer a sense of control in a situation where they normally feel helpless. </span><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;">This technique, combined with relaxation techniques, is an expedient way of bringing relief to the panic attack suffer and can help the sufferer regain a sense of control in their life.</span></p>

<p>Panic attack is not a disease but an intense fear or physiological distress. They are episodic in nature. The onset of a panic attack is usually sudden and lasts from ten minutes to thirty minutes.</p>
<p>The cause of a panic attack can be pharmacological or psychological. They are usually caused by the fear of something or phobias. Biological condition can also be the culprit sometimes.  Many times, the cause depends upon the person and his situation.</p>
<p>The symptoms for panic attack are usually the same even though the cause might be different. Some of the symptoms are tingling sensations, choked throat, shortness of breadth, trembling etc. Panic attacks are the most terrifying and distressing psychological episodes.</p>
<p>Fortunately, it is possible to treat panic attacks. Breathing exercises help a lot to overcome panic attacks. In severe cases, medication needs to be given to the patients for their well being.</p>
<p>Medication by itself cannot do the magic; the will power of the person to come out of the fearful circle of panic attacks is very important. You need to believe in yourself that you can do it, only then you will be able to come out of the dark tunnel of the panic attacks.</p>
